Matthew & Robin
Dear Beloved,
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for considering our family profile. While we know that a few short paragraphs can only tell so much, we do hope to give you a small sense of the kind of parents and family we are, and tell you a little bit about our individual personalities and what our day-to-day life looks like as well.
We know this path is not an easy one to walk and we recognize the sacrifice you are making for your child. Thank you for choosing life. You and baby are both so loved.
Blessings,
Matthew & Robin
Married since 2016
Reside in Central Virginia
Matthew’s Occupation: Pilot for a private charter company
Robin’s Occupation: Stay-at-home Mama (former high school teacher)
About Us:
We met in 2015 when we were both living on the west coast. Matt had just earned his commercial pilot license and was starting out in his aviation career and Robin was teaching high school business and marketing classes. We became engaged on a private sleigh ride through a winter wonderland in Leavenworth, Washington because Matt knew how much Robin loved the movie Frozen and wanted to create a very memorable experience. Then we moved to the east coast together shortly before our wedding in the summer of 2016. We got married in Cabo, Mexico on the beach in a small intimate ceremony with close family and friends in attendance and a highlight of that week was getting to ride camels on the beach together during our wedding-moon.
Matt was born in Oregon and grew up living up and down the west coast, while Robin grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs. We settled in Florida for a couple of years as newlyweds and spent many date nights going to the Magic Kingdom to watch the fireworks together, until a job change brought us to Virginia in 2021. We love the seasons, the mountains and the mild weather here. We have two very sweet boys: Liam and Asher, ages 8 and 1 1/2, who are excited to welcome another sibling into our home. We love visiting theme parks, going on family vacations together, camping and spending most of our free time in the outdoors exploring new places.
We always envisioned having 3 children but after our first son was born we experienced many years of unexplained secondary infertility, including multiple miscarriages. We had considered adoption before but then were unexpectedly blessed with our second son. Now we continue to pray for a third child to join our family by way of adoption.
Our Faith:
We were both raised in strong Christian households, in the Lutheran denomination. We currently go to a non-denominational Christian church and our oldest son attends a private Christian elementary school. Liam also enjoys attending VBS in the summer and a Christian weeklong summer camp held in our town. We believe our religion and faith in God has shaped us and helped form our values and has been a huge part of our life experiences growing up and we desire to pass these beliefs and values on to our children as well. The strength of our Savior has helped us get through some difficult times including losing a parent to Multiple Sclerosis a couple of years ago, a family divorce, as well as other difficult phases of adolescence and young adulthood.
About Matthew, by Robin:
Matt is a kind-hearted, loving family man who served his country in the US Navy for six years prior to becoming a pilot. He was involved in the police explorers program in high school and also worked as a police cadet after high school. His favorite movie is Top Gun and we watch it together multiple times a year. In his free time he enjoys fun adventures like camping, off-roading, playing golf, fitness, going to the beach, and hiking. He’s a great friend to many and a wonderfully devoted husband and father. My favorite thing about him is that his personality is very laid-back and he is content to hang out at home most of the time, but he can always be up for a good time out or adventure at a moment’s notice!
About Robin, by Matthew:
My lovely wife Robin has been a major blessing in my life. She is the most loving and adoring person I have ever met. She is really good at making people in her life feel like the most important people on the planet. The first time we celebrated my birthday, she made me custom Top Gun bags for the gifts she had gotten me. One of her favorite daily activities is taking walks around our neighborhood. She uses that time to either take the kids to the park, walk the dogs, or connect with one of her friends or brother. She loves being outside as much as possible, especially when it is sunny and warm out. You will often find her watering her flowers, reading books or writing in her journal. She is always trying to figure new ways to encourage growth in our children as well as in our marriage. It makes my heart feel full of love and smiles watching her love on our children. It is a true joy to see and experience how much love she has and watch as it continues to grow every day towards our children and me.
10 Quick Facts:
1. We’re both introverts at heart and definitely need our downtime to recharge, although we can often be described as ‘extroverted introverts’ because we are fairly social and truly enjoy being together in small groups with close friends and family whenever possible.
2. The beach is our happy place and we take a week each summer to try out a new beach spot, along with some long weekend trips sprinkled in throughout the year to either Virginia Beach or Myrtle Beach.
3. We recently fulfilled a dream of owning a small camper, so we’ve been visiting many campgrounds around Virginia and making fun family camping memories together, with lots of s’mores of course :-)
4. We love animals and having family pets. We currently have two rescued pups, Scooby and Kona and a Siamese cat named Luna.
5. Robin’s dad lives with us and Matt’s mom moved from the west coast to our town this summer and is only about five minutes away, making for lots of grandparent spoilage!
6. We love finding good coffee shops, strolling through farmer’s markets on a nice Saturday morning or having a cozy fire in our outdoor fire pit on crisp evenings and inviting friends and neighbors over for fellowship.
7. Matt is the main cook in our family and he truly excels at making delicious meals on the fly, while Robin prefers baking cookies, muffins, cakes or scones, and being Matt’s sous chef extraordinaire.
8. We live in a very kid-friendly neighborhood with a playground that we like to take daily walks to and there are many young children to play with. Our boys are never lacking a playmate it seems.
9. We have some names in mind that we love, but would also be open to discussing input as well if you have something special that’s on your heart.
10. We would truly love to have a relationship and an open adoption if that is something you would be willing to pursue, and to the degree that you are comfortable with.
