Stephen & Allison

Stephen and Allison with their son waiting to adopt

Hello!

We are Stephen and Allison, and we are honored that you would take the time to get to know us! We can't imagine the weight of the journey you are on. Facing the unknown can be scary, and we admire your courage as you navigate many different decisions for you and your child. Know that you are loved and prayed for. No matter what you decide, God is working all things together for His unique purpose for your life and that of your child.

It is hard to get to know someone in a quick paragraph, but here’s a little bit about us: We met online and were married just 6 months after we met. Allison is originally from Tennessee and Stephen has lived in Lynchburg, VA for the majority of his life. We have one son, Nolan, who we adopted through foster care and who brings us immense joy. Stephen loves fixing things and volunteering his time to help others with construction/renovation needs. Allison enjoys reading, working puzzles, and keeping the house organized. We try to balance a healthy lifestyle with the realistic demands of our schedules. We love family time and prioritize activities we can do together on a daily basis.

It is such a privilege to cross paths with you. If you choose to place your child with us, we will do everything we can to raise him or her in a God-honoring home. We will talk about you so that your baby knows who you are and how selfless you are! We will read books, go on adventures, eat way too much ice cream, and do everything we can to help them achieve their full potential. Most importantly, your child will be loved well and loved forever.

No matter what you decide, we are praying for you and your baby to have comfort, joy, health, and peace. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us.

About Us:

Our journey to adoption has been a multi-year process, and we are excited to continue this journey with Family Life Services. We were married in 2019 and quickly became an emergency foster placement to two boys in our community. Over the years we have been able to love and care for 9 wonderful foster children.

We were blessed to be able to adopt our son, Nolan, from foster care in 2025, and we feel so honored to have him in our family. Nolan is as wild as a 5-year-old boy can get, and he keeps us on our toes! He is curious, kind, and incredibly outgoing. He loves bugs, riding his bike, driving power wheels, and caring for any animal that crosses his path. After Nolan’s adoption was finalized, we felt the Lord prompting us to open our home to another child through adoption. We have room in our hearts to love another sweet child that needs a family, and we can’t wait to see how the Lord might move.

About Stephen (from Allison’s perspective):

Stephen is an engineer by day but a fun-seeking, Nerf gun fighting, lava monster chasing superhero at night. He is the best dad to our son and a hard worker in all the many home projects he undertakes. Stephen is a wonderful example of what selfless love looks like. He is steady; he rolls with the punches and isn't easily angered. Stephen is a wonderful provider for our family. He is a constant source of joy.

About Allison (from Stephen’s perspective):

Allison is an amazing planner. I would not be a put-together and hard-working man if it weren't for her. She is the cog in the machine that keeps our family moving on to the next adventure. She is selfless, kind, loving, strong, and a wonderful homemaker. I enjoy watching her plan out the garden and make it grow every year. Watching her care for our son always makes my heart melt. I fell in love with an amazing woman and thank God for bringing us together.

10 Quick Facts:

1.  We are a part of a small local church that is full of children and young families and faithfully teaches God’s Word.

2. We love to travel – we typically try to go on vacation once a year, usually with Allison’s family.

3. We enjoy going to amusement parks – our favorites include Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA and Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN.

4. We enjoy going on family bike rides after dinner. Our neighborhood has some wonderful hills to catch some speed!

5. We live in a quiet neighborhood that is close to the city. Nolan loves exploring the woods around our house.

6. We have two miniature Australian Shepherds that are energetic and very loving.

7. Allison works part time from home and can adjust her hours to best care for Nolan and our family responsibilities.

8. Nolan is the extroverted member of our family; Stephen and Allison are both introverts. We try to balance going out to do fun things and spending time at home. Our goal is to have enough margin in our schedule so that Nolan can be a kid without the stress of too many commitments.

9. Our hope for our children is to teach them responsibility and to give them the skills they need to succeed in life. Nolan helps us around the house with chores, and he earns money that he likes to spend on songs at the Waffle House juke box.

10. We are open to an open adoption, if this is something you’re interested in. We maintain contact with Nolan’s birth family and have visits throughout the year. We’d love to hear your thoughts and talk more!
